District 3-3 Clayton

This fellowship posting is in District 3-3 Clayton in Jonesboro, Georgia. The fellow selected for this position will be an employee of Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health for the duration of the fellowship, but will spend their time working as a level 1 epidemiologist within the GNR District. This position has the ability to work remotely for 1 day per week.

The Fellow can expect to engage in a variety of epidemiologic activities with priorities being:

  1. Case and outbreak investigations for notifiable diseases
  2. Surveillance system data entry, cleaning and management for COVID-19
  3. Preparing regular epidemiologic COVID-19 reports

In addition to regular duties, the Fellows will need to complete an oral/poster presentation and at least two required analytic, evaluation, or quality improvement projects such as:

    • Developing a newsletter (“Ask an Epi”) for Clayton County which would include an overview of COVID-19 cases and vaccine rates, how and where to get tested and vaccinated, and responding to questions from the public.
    • Presenting and working with community partners; such as partnering with other departments within the Health District at health fairs, health drives, pop-up testing for HIV, etc. to speak on behalf of Epidemiology about: “What is Epidemiology?;” “How does it protect the community?”; “What is happening with COVID-19 and vaccinations and other illnesses as the year progresses?”; etc.
