District 5-1 South Central
This fellowship position is in District 5-1 South Central in Dublin, Georgia. The fellow selected for this position will be an employee of Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health for the duration of the fellowship but will spend their time working as a level 1 epidemiologist within the South Central district. Fellows may be able to work remotely 2-3 days per week.
The Fellow can expect to engage in a variety of routine epidemiologic activities in this position including:
- Assisting with case and outbreak investigations and data entry with a focus on Hepatitis C and COVID-19 .
- Conducting data analysis and preparing reports and visuals for the community.
- Assisting with urgent epidemiologic needs as they arise.
In addition to regular duties, the Fellow will need to complete an oral/poster presentation and at least two required analytic, evaluation, or quality improvement projects. Examples of projects in this district include:
- Following data and presenting data from the National Wastewater Surveillance Program to community leaders and healthcare providers. This program will soon be detecting flu and RSV changes.
- Evaluating public health data and creating visuals showcasing trends that will be shared with the public.
Preferred Fellow background and skills include:
- Experience in data analysis and interpretation.
- Knowledge of tools and methods for visually presenting data to the public.
