District 1-2 North Georgia
This fellowship position is in District 1-2 North Georgia in Dalton, Georgia. The fellow selected for this position will be an employee of Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health for the duration of the fellowship but will spend their time working as a level 1 epidemiologist within the North Georgia district. The Fellow should expect to work in-person, although a hybrid work schedule may become available to the fellow based on performance.
The Fellow can expect to engage in a variety of routine epidemiologic activities in this position including:
- Cross-training with STD, enteric diseases, and food-borne illnesses.
In addition to regular duties, the Fellow will need to complete an oral/poster presentation and at least two required analytic, evaluation, or quality improvement projects. Examples of projects in this district include:
- Evaluating a NACCHO funded project on decreasing syphilis in Cherokee County. This evaluation will include quantitative data analysis, qualitative interviews, and behavioral analysis.
- Taking the lead on a Hepatitis C prevention project, assisting with grant applications, and providing health education and promotion.
- Assisting with forming a comprehensive district health profile to inform health initiatives, provide updates to internal/external partners based on outcomes, and drive future district projects.
- Participating in community engagement projects to promote vaccination and a health education presentation to community partners.
Preferred Fellow background and skills include:
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with data analysis software such as SAS, R, and Arc GIS.
- Experience with grant proposals and/or program evaluation.
