District 8-2 Southwest
This fellowship position is in District 8-2 Southwest in Albany, Georgia. The fellow selected for this position will be an employee of Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health for the duration of the fellowship but will spend their time working as a level 1 epidemiologist within the Southwest district. Fellows may be able to work remotely 1 day per week.
The Fellow can expect to engage in a variety of routine epidemiologic activities in this position including:
- Cross training on notifiable disease reporting and follow-up.
- Outbreak investigations and long-term care facilities follow-up.
- Working on leadership projects and community coalitions.
In addition to regular duties, the Fellow will need to complete an oral/poster presentation and at least two required analytic, evaluation, or quality improvement projects. Examples of projects in this district include:
- Assisting with a district-wide community health needs assessment following the Mobilizing for Action through Planning and Partnerships (MAPP) process. The Fellow would work in all aspects of the process including the Community Health Assessment and Community Health Improvement Plan.
- Working with and learning notifiable disease reporting, the STD/HIV program, and rabies program. The STD and HIV programs involve assessing workplace equity, and the Fellow would help lead the process.
- Collaborating with the tobacco coalition, diabetes coalition, HIV consortium, or the opioid and substance abuse prevention coalition.
