Community Involvement
Interested in volunteering in Georgia’s COVID-19 response? Affiliating with a Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) is one of the best ways to make yourself known to your local health department when they are ready for more volunteers. MRC volunteers are involved in many aspects of the COVID-19 pandemic response including testing sites, vaccination distribution clinics, call centers, and more.
Not a medical provider? That’s OK! Volunteers registered with MRCs do not need to have a clinical background and no experience is required for non-clinical volunteers. There are a number of MRCs across the state of Georgia that serve a variety of counties or regions. Each MRC has different requirements for membership, but a recommended first step for volunteering with an MRC is to create an account and profile with servga.gov. To learn more how to create a profile and affiliate with a specific MRC, please check out this document.
Public Health Partners
The ECRC is committed to connecting Emory faculty, staff and students with state and local public health partners in Georgia. If you are a practicing public health practitioner interested in support from the Emory community, please email us directly at [email protected].
Faculty & Staff
One of the major goals of the ECRC is to support Emory faculty that are dedicated to engaging in Georgia’s COVID-19 response. This includes provision of salary support for faculty and faculty-led teams interested in collaborative projects with public health partners in a practice or policy-focused project or initiative for at least 3 to 6 months.
Faculty interested in receiving funding for a project from the ECRC must:
- Propose to lead or substantially contribute to a COVID-19-related project or initiative that directly impacts the state’s COVID-19 response
- Be interested and able to remain engaged in a practice-based project or initiative for at least 3 months, with renewal possible pending interest of the practice partner and availability of funds
- Have written support of GDPH or Health District Partner
Faculty primarily appointed at Emory interested in receiving funds to support COVID-19 efforts conducted in collaboration with public health partners should email [email protected]
