District 5-1 South Central

This fellowship posting is in District 5-1 South Central in Dublin, Georgia. The fellow selected for this position will be an employee of Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health for the duration of the fellowship, but will spend their time working as a level 1 epidemiologist within the South Central district. This position has the potential to work remotely for 2-3 days per week.

The Fellow can expect to engage in a variety of epidemiologic activities with priorities being:

  1. COVID-19 contact tracing, case and outbreak investigations;
  2. COVID-19 data analysis
  3. data analysis for other non-COVID notifiable diseases. 

In addition to regular duties, the Fellow will need to complete an oral/poster presentation and at least two required analytic, evaluation, or quality improvement projects such as: 

  • Analyzing COVID-19 data for: 1) community health assessments and 2) measuring the impact that COVID-19 has had on the district’s public health programs, services, and staff.  
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of District 5-1’s new Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support (DSMES) program.
